Could Colorado rule the Grammy Awards this year?

Local music heroes The Fray were just nominated for “Best Pop Vocal Album” and “Best Pop Duo or Group with Vocals”  for the 2010 Grammy Awards show. The program will air on Jan. 31

That means the Colorado boys will be up against The Black Eyed Peas, Pink, Kelly Clarkson and Colbie Caillat for the “Best Pop Vocal Album.” And, The Fray will be competing with Black Eyed Peas, Bon Jovi, Daryl Hall and John Oates and MGMT for “Best Pop Duo or Group with Vocals.”

A few other artists with Colorado ties also earned Grammy nods.

India.Arie grew up in Denver and she was nominated for “Best R&B Album,” “Best R&B Performance by A Duo or Group with Vocals” — and “Best Urban/Alternative Performance” Grammys.

And New Age  artists Peter Kater and Kitaro have spent time in Colorado — and they were both nominated  for “Best New Age Album.”

In other Grammy news: The “Record of the Year’  will be duked out by Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Kings of Leon, Lady GaGa and Taylor Swift.

And  “Album of the Year” nominees include Dave Matthews Band, Black Eyed Peas, Lady GaGa, Taylor Swift and Beyonce.

That’s pretty aaizmng. Good to see kids singing real music and having fun. When I was in chorus, we sang the most boring crap ever. Good for their teacher.
