Rodrigo y Gabriela CU Boulder Show Postponed to April 27 — Due to “Unforseen Scheduling Conflicts”

Rodrigo y Gabriela show at CU postponed until April 27

CU students were psyched to have Rodrigo y Gabriela play a special sold out show at Macky Auditorium on Friday.

Late this afternoon, it was announced that Rod and Gab were postponing their shows due to an “unforseen scheduling conflict with the performers, completely out of control of the University of Colorado.”

The show’s been re-scheduled for Apr. 27 and the Apr. 1 tickets will be honored at that time. There will be a refund period for  student ticket-holders from April 4 to April 15 at the UMC connection.

A little birdie told me that part of the reason the scheduling conflict came up, was due to a Captain Jack Sparrow.

Mile High Music Festival 2011: Colorado’s Annual Music Party Goes on Hiatus Due to the Economy.

Dave Matthews was one of the staple acts of the Mile High Music Festival

Let’s face it, the economy’s putting the crunch on lots of things.

The latest victim is Denver’s Mile High Music Festival. The event ran for three seasons and featured headlining performers like the Dave Matthews Band, Widespread Panic, Jack Johnson and John Mayer.

The festival was also held in the hottest part of the summer for the first two years — on a very dry soccer field. Last year, Mile High changed the concert dates to later in the summer, but the event still didn’t draw immense crowds.

Today, AEG Live Rocky Mountain announced that the Mile High Festival 2011 would be put on hold.

AEG Live Rocky Mountain Region President Chuck Morris/CEO said, “It was not an easy decision to put the festival on hold. We are really proud of the event, and we’re not ruling out the possibility of bringing it back in the future.”

The official Mile High press release cited the current economic climate as a major factor for putting the event on hiatus.

That should make this a very intertesting summer for the local music market. Does that mean that more bands will be available to play Boulder and Denver venues, because they’re not playing Mile High?

Stay tuned.
