It was looking like one of the hottest music festivals of 2009, but today it was announced that Langerado 2009 was cancelled!!
Yep, the fest featuring Death Cab for Cutie, Snoop Dogg, Dashboard Confessional — and more — was yanked today by concert promoters citing “sluggish” ticket sales.
The show was set for March 6-8 in Miami, but the current state of the economy made the promoters think twice.
According to a press release, Langerado co-promoter Ethan Schwartz said, “Langerado has always put the fan experience first. Unfortunately, during these tough economic times — and facing a first year in a new venue, it’s become apparent that we can’t execute a production that lives up to the high standards of our past events.”
The fest’s website www.langerado.com says that all tickets purchased will be refunded.
So, here’s my question — which music fests will last this summer — or was Langerado just spring jitters?
On the plus side, Bonnaroo just announced it’s 2009 line-up and tickets go on sale this Saturday.
Bonnaroo will take place June 11-14. The music fest site is located south of Nashville, Tenn.
This year’s line-up includes: Bruce Springsteen, Phish, Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails, David Byrne, Wilco, Snoop Dogg, Ben Harper, TV on the Radio, Gov’t Mule, Galactic and more. Hit www.bonnaroo.com to find out the full schedule.
Hopefully, Bonnaroo 2009 will take place this summer.
Anybody want to take bets on what music fests last or go down this season?
