Polytoxic's "The Last Waltz" rocked the Boulder Theater -- see the Denver show Wednesday at Cervantes
It’s been a long time since there’s been a massive local gathering of music fans — for a group that wasn’t made up of national record toppers.
That’s why it was so refreshing to see Boulder and Denver musicians from past and up-and-coming bands join together for Friday’s “The Last Waltz show at the Boulder Theater.
Polytoxic hosted the event and a score of known and unknown artists stepped out on stage to perform music from the cult film classic “The Last Waltz.”
The show moved at a fast pace, as the local musicians covered everything from Neil Young’s “Helpless” to Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City” – and performed a solid version of The Band’s “The Weight.” Polytoxic and the guest band nailed every tune and gave some numbers their own jamming twist — and the audience loved it.
And — this was one of the biggest local music crowds I’ve seen at the Boulder Theater. The room was packed with fans of all ages that came out to check out the scene and revel in the classic tunes.
If you missed the Boulder Theater show, then catch this show at Cervantes Wednesday.
