Bobby Long showed off his eclectic collection of songs at the b.side Lounge Tuesday
It’s debatable about what’s going to happen to Boulder’s b.side Lounge, but the local venue’s been bringing in some amazing musical acts.
Last night, “Twilight” soundtrack star Bobby Long visited the club and he made a hit with the intimate-sized audience.
Although Long’s shaggy hair kept masking his face, the artist didn’t seem to mind as he plowed into a very varied repertoire of tunes.
The British artist performed everything from powerful protest songs to haunting ballads to rocking blues numbers. Long’s guitar playing was equal to his mesmerizing lyrics and emotive tunes.
Long also took the time to chat up the audience between tunes – and told some pretty funny stories about his plane trip to Denver and the stories behind some of his songs. The b.side ambience seems to bring out that audience and performer connection at its shows.
Long may have earned fame via the debut “Twilight” film, but this artist has enough tricks in his bag to propel his own career.
If you missed Tuesday’s Boulder show — Long is playing the hi-dive in Denver tonight. And you can buy the artist’s CD “Dirty Pond Songs.” It’s only available at the shows or via www.myspace.com/musicbobbylong.
