The commericals for NBC’s  Sing-Off” featured all these young bands vying for the record contract prize.

Funny, Boulder’s Face never got played up on those ads.

Now, the local band’s been the first group voted off the national a cappella contest show.

Monday night’s contest featured Face going up against three really bad vocal groups, but somehow all those cute, perky college kids managed to stay in the competition.

It didn’t help that Face sang the Bon Jovi song “Livin’ on a Prayer.” The Jersey band’s songs have been the kiss of death on other talent shows, and I’m not sure it was the wisest tune to rock out on.

Also judge Ben Folds didn’t seem to keen on the Boulder band -even though the other two judges thought Face rocked it. This was the same judge that said his final vote was going to go to the band that took the genre to the next level. Hello Ben? Anybody home?

That said, Face got voted off “The Sing-Off” in the first 45 minutes of the show. It was really a shame, because some of the college bands were really painful to listen to.

Thank goodness this epic is only going to last one week.
