Stuart Davis will play one of the b.side's last major shows.
This is a sad day for live music in Boulder.
The b.side Lounge just announced its last day will be Dec. 31 and owner Betsy Workman sent out an e-mail today citing the reasons for the closure.
The club was around for less than two years, but it made an impact on the downtown Boulder music scene with its DJ and live music nights. This is the second venue to close in recent months, as The Foundry recently shut its doors.
Workman says the overhead expenses “got the best of us’ –plus a landlord that didn’t want to re-adjust the rent for these economic times. Now she’s hoping to pass the torch to someone who wants to keep the downtown live music and DJ community alive.
Hopefully, someone out there has the cash and the desire to do this.
That said, the b.side will be going out with a bang this month. The venue has a full schedule of shows and plans a major blowout New Year’s Eve party on the 31st.
Let’s see, how many venues do we have left in Boulder?
