Update: Weezer's Fillmore show has been "postponed."
What a difference a day makes.
Yesterday, Denver concert promoters said Weezer would be playing its Jan. 17 show at the Fillmore.
Today, Live Nation sent out a press release saying the Weezer show had been “postponed.”
Sunday, Weezer’s bus was involved in an accident and frontman Rivers Cuomo suffered from some serious injuries. The band’s blog site sounded optimistic, although the band did cancel its Dec. run of shows.
The band’s blog has been updated today at: http://www.weezer.com/blog/default.aspx?nid=23973.
It says that Cuomo is still in a lot of pain, but that he managed to walk down the hospital halls with the aid of a walker. That sounds like it’s going to take some recovery time for the musician to be ready for performing live shows. The band also wanted to wish band member Brian Bell happy birthday, in the midst of all this craziness.
Hopefully, this story will end well and we’ll see Weezer in Denver in early 2010.
Here’s yesterday’s Club Notes posting, to keep everybody up to speed: http://clubnotes.pmpblogs.com/bands/weezer-bus-accident-bands-denver-show-announced/
Stay tuned.
