Colorado music fans can appreciate their favorite acts cancelling appearances — if there’s a really good reason.
Club Notes just got the scoop on Ben Harper’s cancellation of his Fox Theatre show.
I just talked to the people at “Friday Morning Quarterback .” That’s the group hosting the Triple A radio convention and Harper ‘s Fox appearance. The musician cancelled out - after selling out the Aug. 5 show in record time.
According to the “Friday Morning Quarterback,” Harper cancelled out, “Due to a scheduling conflict, but we called Mindy Smith and her band was able to pull it together in 24 hours to perform in Boulder.”
No one seems to know what “scheduling conflict” translates to, but didn’t someone in Harper’s camp figure that out in advance? This is not going to win over fans.
On the other hand, Michael Franti had a damn good reason for missing tonight’s Red Rocks show with Counting Crows.
The popular performer went under the knife for an appendectomy a few days ago, and despite a badly ruptured appendix, he’s on the road to recovery. Franti is even expected to resume his tour schedule in early August.
This isn’t for the squeamish — but Franti did have his operation filmed — and it’s up on YouTube. You can connect to the videos via Franti’s website.
Now, that’s an excuse for cancelling a show! Franti even has the filmed evidence.
