Besides providing you with Colorado music news, Club Notes will also be featuring national music news.
We’re getting to this just in time,’ cause two major acts just announced that you can hear sneak previews of their new songs via the Internet.
It just shows you how powerful the Internet is becoming when it comes to breaking new music.
First up is U2.
The Irish band sells out arenas around the world, but Bono and the boys are smart enough to know that it pays to advertise on the Internet. Now, U2 is giving fans the chance to preview its pulsating new song “Get On Your Boots.”
The new tunes off of U2’s upcoming CD “No Line on the Horizon” and fans can listen to the song at http://goyb.u2.com. The full CD hits stores March 3 in the U.S.
The Decemberists are also looking at a March release date — March 24– to release their new CD “The Hazards Of Love.”
The Decemberists are always thinking on their feet, and the songs for the new CD wrap themselves around a fairy-tale that includes characters like shape-shifters, forest queens — and some nasty characters thrown in for good measure.
The band even got artists like My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and Robyn Hitchcock to sing the roles on their new CD.
To entice fans along on this musical journey, The Decemberists are allowing fans to go to www.decemberists.com and download the new CD tune “The Rake’s Song.”
That’s not all.
The Decemberists will be hitting the road this spring to perform the new tunes. I’m also betting that U2 has a few stadium shows up its sleeve to promote its new record.
