Boulderites got to see a free acoustic show with Dr. Dog — if they were lucky enough to follow their e-mails and change of venue clues.

Earlier today, word got out via e-mails that Dr. Dog would do a free acoustic show outside on the Pearl St. Mall. The infamous Boulder winds changed that plan, so the venue was changed to the Dushanbe Teahouse in town. Fans heading to the teahouse then found a note on the door saying the venue and time had changed, so the show was moved  to the Conor O’Neill’s  pub.

It took awhile for fans to find out about the new locale — most got texted or e-mailed to find that the show had been moved to Conor’s — but Dr Dog finally arrived at the pub as about 100 fans assembled for the free show.

The Dr. Dog band members donned their dark shades and played a pretty impressive set — especially since they played without any mics or large speakers. The intimate audience called out fan favorites, and the group obliged by playing acoustic versions of songs like “California” and “Jackie Wants a Black Eye.”

If you were a Dr. Dog fan — this will just warm you up for tonight’s show at the Boulder Theater.
