Ben Harper Cancels His Sold-Out Fox Theatre Show for the Triple A Radio Conference

Ben Harper cancels his sold-out Boulder show

Here’s one for the I Don’t Get It department:

First off, Ben Harper plays the Mile High Music Festival in Denver. Everyone had to wait for them to announce his  Aug. 5  Fox Theatre show — until Mile High was over. Then, tickets go on sale for the Fox’s Triple A radio showcase featuring Ben Harper and his band. The show sells out — and then Harper cancels the concert!

Is this a good idea to cancel, when all these radio and promotions folks are flying in early to see the showcase for the music conference? What’s even weirder — is that Harper’s website still lists his Aug. 8 date at Lollapalooza.

I’m sure a lot of local music fans and radio people are going to be looking for a good explanation to this question.

The conference bumped Paolo Nutini up to the headlining slot for Wednesday’s show and added folkie Mindy Smith, but I don’t think that’s going to amp up this show.

Stay tuned for Club Notes coverage of the Triple A radio conference.
